How it all started

Gin Again is the idea of John Barraclough, a retired IT engineer in St. Annes. After nearly 30 years of working in IT John took voluntary redundancy in December 2016. In the few years since then John has had a range of jobs, none of which quite hit the mark. Then the idea of creating a small craft gin company was gradually formed. At first it was just a holiday idea – they always seem like a good idea when you are sitting in a bar in the sunshine! But little by little the idea took shape and The Recycled Gin Company was formed. The basis of the idea is that all of the bottles are recycled. Not broken up, but simply old bottles reused. Once that idea was established it was just the simple matter of acquiring the right licenses, getting a DBS, talking to the police and local council, some more licences – oh and working on a recipe or two! And finally in December 2019 Gin Again was truly born. All of the bottles have been kindly donated by friends, family and local clubs. They are cleaned and sterilised in the family kitchen and then the gin is created in the small shed at the bottom of the garden.
